The Fiber Optic Association has developed curriculum guidelines for training course approval and only approves schools or training organizations meeting our standards. This course is designed for entrance level students and Fiber personnel wanting to know more about all aspects of Fiber Optics, including mechanical, fusion, and FTTH applications. Course is 50% hands on with the use of OTDR, power meters, visual fault locators and various other Fiber test equipment. Students do hands-on with SFF, ST, SC and other connectors. Students have their own 75ft strand of fiber to do all connectors, mechanical splices and fusion splices and to be mounted in fiber trays and subscriber fiber panels. Their end-to-end test results, along with written tests, troubleshooting techniques and hands-on work are results of individualized work. Classes offered at Ben-Hill Irwin campus of Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Fitzgerald, Georgia. Class is 105 clock hours and 4 credit hours.
