The Fiber Optic Association has developed curriculum guidelines for training course approval and only approves schools or training organizations meeting our standards. Schools or training organizations which offer training which meets FOA standards are listed on this website and are authorized to offer FOA certifications.

Course Description: TRAINING We offer a 2 day Fiber optics course that is composed of 25% fiber theory and 75% hands on training. We believe in getting you involved and acquainted with the tools you need to be able to work successfully in the industry. Our hands on training was specifically designed to create fast retention and to quickly build your skill level.
Purpose: The purpose of this training is to learn data installation with fiber cabling. By the completion of the course the participants can perform fiber installations, including selecting and installing the proper fiber types and terminations. Participants will organize documents and perform tests to monitor the fiber installation. In addition, each participant will perform loss calculations in fiber installations. In this course we will review the following: Use of fiber optics Fiber optic safety precautions Light path in the fiber Advantages / disadvantages of optical fiber Requirements for splicing Types of fusion splicing Choice of fiber types Installation of fiber Fiber Alignment and core centering Processes in splicing Practical exercises: fiber splicing in patch panel OTDR theory Measurement of fiber cables
