The mission of Midwest Lightwave is to bridge the "expertise gap" between the Skills and Abilities available in the current labor pool, and ever-increasing requirements to deploy and provision Fiber Optic networks and services in a timely manner.

Do you have a crew of trusted and talented copper or data technicians, but can't find good "fiber" techs? Technicians are trained, not born. Choose a crew and let us train them and save thousands in hiring expenses, and also invest in a known resource.

Midwest Lightwave provides a variety of training and consulting services, but we specialize in on-site, CFOT and CFOS/xx Training on your existing equipment. This means, unlike many schools, we can train on Viavi (JDSU), EXFO, FLUKE, AFL (Noyes), Sumitomo, Corning, Fitel, etc. Sending your technicians to school on a Brand X OTDR when he/she will be using Brand A just doesn't make a lot of sense. We can also provide introductory training on equipment of our choosing.

Our courses are NOT "one size fits all". Please allow time for detailed consultation (at no charge) prior to receiving our proposal. We're very interested in knowing the current skill and knowledge level of your technicians so that we can emphasize new skills, while reviewing and reinforcing existing expertise, maximizing training efficiency.

Our instruction and evaluation does, however, comply with FOA guidelines where certification is desired.

We can provide proctoring and testing services for the CFOT for techs who comply with FOA "Work to Cert" guidelines, and provide follow-on training for various CFOS/xx specialties such as FTTH, Testing, or Fiber Characterization.

MLW also delivers on-site, half-day and one-day technology briefs for planners, engineers and purchasers who are moving into the Fiber Optic technology arena.

We can "demystify" terminology and shorten the learning curve, saving thousands of dollars in resources by avoiding beginner's mistakes.

We also deliver phone or web-delivered consultations and/or brief presentations. Our course content has been distilled from 30 years of practical experience in the Optical Communication industry.
