The Fiber Optic Association has developed curriculum guidelines for training course approval and only approves schools or training organizations meeting our standards. Schools or training organizations which offer training which meets FOA standards are listed on this website and are authorized to offer FOA certifications.

the course description introduces the fundamentals of fiber optics and explores the application of fiber optics transmission systems. there are laboratory exercises to give students hands-on experience with fiber optics devices and test equipment. Topics in the course include types of optical fibers, fiber materials and manufacture, cabling, light sources/transmitters/receivers, connectors, splicing, test measurement and fiber optic system design. this is a one (1) semester course.
